The Silver Screen Cinema is located in the top part of the former Borough of Folkestone Town Hall, the present cinema opened its doors on 22nd April 1990 following extensive refurbishment to the building. The site had previously housed one of the first cinemas in Folkestone The Cinema Deluxe, in fact a sample of “magic lantern” film was found during the construction of the present cinema auditoria, used in early demonstrations of film projection.
Today’s Silver Screen Cinema houses two auditoria Cinema 1 has stalls and a balcony and seats 436 with Cinema 2 seating 116. The cinema is styled in the bygone era of the thirties with portraits of film stars adorning the wall. Both auditoria are non-smoking and have the Dolby Surround systems. Despite being located upstairs we are able to cater for disabled patrons.
Come and enjoy the latest movies in the comfort of a thirties theme with friendly service guaranteed.
